At Change Purse we believe in making change that lasts. Our mission is to encourage hope through raising awareness and investing into the lives of victims and survivors of sex trafficking. We do this through education and by providing funding (acquired through purse sales) for faith based organizations that are making a difference in their communities and working with women and girls who are or have been victims of trafficking. We have decided to create a newsletter because we want YOU to stay informed on the issue of sex trafficking and learn how Change Purse is involved in fighting against this great injustice of our time. We'll give you the inside scoop on some of our larger events, provide you with updates, and in this issue and the ones to come, you'll learn about what organizations we support, our relationships with them, and what these organizations are doing to provide hope and restoration to numerous lives that have been broken.

Let's Talk NumbersChange Purse newsletter, March 18, 2013

20.9 million.

The estimated number of people who were victims of human trafficking in 2012, according to the International Labor Organization.

4,500,000.

Of those trafficked, the number who are victims of sexual slavery or sex trafficking in 2012 alone.

The numbers are staggering and can be daunting to read. Often, they leave a feeling as though the eradication of human trafficking is impossible. The truth is, it is an overwhelming task that no single person or group will accomplish.

But Change Purse believes that God has a plan for each victim, and with Him, all things are possible. Each person and organization plays a role in His plan when they join together and accomplish what they are called to do.

Because we ultimately believe that true restoration and healing comes only through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, Change Purse only supports faith based organizations. Although we do not directly rescue or work with rescued victims, the organizations that we financially support do.

So when you give a donation or make a purchase from Change Purse, where is your money going?

All financial decisions are made based on Hebrews 11:1, which says "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, and certain of what we do not see." Change Purse seeks God's guidance, direction and provision for all financial decisions.

We divide our income into three areas that each play a role in fighting sex trafficking. The first area is composed of 60 percent of all donations and sales and goes directly to supporting organizations that are involved with the rescue and restoration of sex-trafficked victims. In our last newsletter, we glanced at two faith-based organizations that Change Purse supports, PEACE Promise and Shores of Grace. To view our previous newsletter, please visit here.

The second area is composed of 30 percent all sales and donations, and is broken down further into two categories: 15 percent of funds to raise awareness and support events, 15 percent of funds to cover operational costs.

The remaining 10 percent of funds Change Purse uses to tithe.

"We tithe, not out of obligation, but because we are so thankful for what God has already blessed us with," says Angela Moran, a Change Purse ambassador. "Although we are a charitable organization, we want to put our money where God's heart is, and we believe that His heart is for His people."

For that reason, Change Purse has chosen to tithe 10 percent of all income to Caleb Company, an organization with a mission to equip God's people with His heart and purpose for Israel and the nations.

Tracey Kimball, a member of Change Purse's prayer board and someone directly involved with Caleb Company, explained that revealing God's heart was what the organization was all about.

"A lot of what we do is to really try and bring truth and revelation to the fact that God's promises and prophesies are to and through the Jewish people," says Tracey. "That is the heart of what we carry into any ministry opportunity. We want people to come into alignment with God's heart and purpose for Israel."

When people come into alignment with God's heart, Tracey says the blessings seem to overflow.

"It's amazing how God just multiplies the impact and influence in your own ministry and the influence that your ministry will have," she says. "Somehow it makes sense in God's alignment that when you have His heart for His nation, something shifts and whatever ministry or organization you are involved with exponentially goes forward or expands."

"We've chosen to give to a domestically based organization with an international vision for Israel," says Angela. "I love their heart and what they do. We prayed about who to support and it's one of those things that's hard to put into words. But everywhere I looked, I felt like I kept seeing Israel. We've been so blessed and want to continue to get God's blessing, which is why we've chosen to tithe to His people."
